This is a genuine vintage Egyptian gold cartouche pendant, the kind brought back from Egypt during the golden era of Egyptian tourism in the 1960s to 1980s, when cartouche jewellery was at the height of its popularity and Egyptian goldsmiths were producing some of the most intricate handcrafted gold work in the world.

The cartouche itself is engraved with a column of hieroglyphic symbols including an ankh, the ancient Egyptian symbol of life, framed by an exquisite filigree border of delicate gold wirework. The base features the characteristic horizontal bar typical of authentic Egyptian cartouche design. The reverse is plain polished gold. At 3.96g of 18ct gold, this is a substantial, beautifully made piece with real history behind it.
