Vintage 9ct Yellow Gold Transitional Cut Diamond Crossover Ring

At the heart of this ring sits a transitional cut diamond of approximately 0.25 carats. Transitional cuts were used from around the 1920s to the 1950s, bridging the hand-cut old European cut and the modern brilliant. They give a softer, warmer sparkle than a modern diamond, and as no new ones are cut today, they’re increasingly sought after.

The diamond is held high in a delicate eight-claw coronet setting, a classic detail of the period, letting the light pour in from every angle. On either side, the 9ct yellow gold shoulders sweep around the centre stone in an elegant “S” shape, each set with three smaller diamonds.
