Vintage 9ct Yellow Gold Large Madeira Citrine Ring Birmingham Hallmarked 1954 Size O

Madeira citrine is the finest variety of citrine there is — a deep, rich amber-orange that takes its name from the fortified wine of the same colour, and has been prized in fine jewellery for generations. This pre-loved 9ct yellow gold solitaire ring showcases a large example of the stone to beautiful effect, the deep burnt-orange warmth of the Madeira citrine glowing against the richness of the yellow gold in a combination that feels both deeply vintage in spirit and thoroughly current in appeal.

Maker-marked W&G and Birmingham hallmarked in 1954, this ring is over seventy years old — a genuine mid-century vintage piece crafted at a time when British jewellery making was at its most considered and quality-driven. The solitaire setting allows the stone to take centre stage completely, elevated and held in the light so that every facet of that extraordinary warm colour can be appreciated. Yes, this is real gold, fully hallmarked by the Birmingham Assay Office and confirmed as genuine 9ct yellow gold with a 375 purity mark. The Madeira citrine is a natural gemstone, not a synthetic or simulated stone.

At 4.45g this ring has a lovely substantial feel — the weight of a ring that was made to last and has done exactly that for over seven decades. Madeira citrine in a stone of this size is increasingly difficult to find in vintage jewellery, and the depth and warmth of colour in a good example is simply impossible to replicate artificially. It arrives in very good condition, the stone bright and richly coloured, the gold warm and well preserved throughout.

Pre-loved and steeped in mid-century character, this vintage 9ct gold Madeira citrine solitaire ring is a truly individual find. Beautifully gift wrapped and ready for its next chapter.
