The Gucci Bamboo 1947 Mini in Rosso Ancora, the deep cherry red that has become Gucci’s signature colour, finished in glossy patent leather with GUCCI pressed boldly across the front. This is the newer embossed logo design, and you’ll struggle to find another one pre-loved. Very few have reached the resale market yet.
The story behind her is half the charm. In post-war Italy, with leather and raw materials in short supply, Gucci’s Florentine artisans turned to bamboo, heating and bending it by hand to make the handle. It became one of the most recognisable details in fashion, and the handle and turn lock clasp on this bag are still shaped and finished by hand today.
Carry her by the bamboo handle for dinner, or clip on the matching leather strap and wear her crossbody for Christmas shopping. Inside, soft cream lining trimmed in burgundy leather holds your phone, lipstick and keys, with her own Gucci leather cased mirror tucked in too.
