Pre-Loved Antique 18ct Yellow Gold 5ct Aquamarine and Old Mine Cut Diamond Three Stone Ring
A 5 carat oval aquamarine sits at the centre of this three stone ring, glowing a soft, icy blue that looks like clear sea water. Its light, airy colour is calming and easy to wear, and it suits warm and cool skin tones alike.
On each side is an old mine cut diamond of about 0.40 carats. These diamonds were cut by hand, probably more than a century ago, before modern machinery existed. Their cushion shape, high crowns and open culets give a soft, candlelit sparkle, broad flashes of light rather than the sharp glitter of a modern stone. Each one is unique, with the warm character only antique diamonds have.
The stones sit in a later 18ct yellow gold setting. The centre stone is held high in four claws, and split shoulders give an elegant, open look from the side.
It makes a beautiful alternative engagement ring, a March birthstone gift, or a ring for a 19th wedding anniversary, which is traditionally marked with aquamarine. Size K½.

FAQ
What is an old mine cut diamond?
Old mine cuts are among the earliest diamond cuts, shaped by hand mainly in the 18th and 19th centuries. They have a cushion shape, a high crown and a small open culet, which give a soft, romantic sparkle often compared to candlelight. As no new ones are cut, they are increasingly sought after.
Is aquamarine suitable for an engagement ring?
Yes. Aquamarine is a hard-wearing gemstone (7.5 to 8 on the hardness scale), and its gentle blue is a popular alternative to a diamond solitaire. Like any ring worn daily, take it off for the gym, gardening and cleaning.
What is aquamarine’s birthstone month?
Aquamarine is the birthstone for March and the traditional gem for a 19th wedding anniversary.
Can the ring be resized?
Yes, our workshop can resize it. Book an appointment and we’ll measure you properly.
