How to Spend a Weekend in Harrogate

Visit the Valley Gardens


The Valley Gardens is one of Harrogate’s most popular attractions. Originally called Bogs Field, this beautiful park features stunning gardens, woodlands and streamside walks. Located within are several Well heads for the legendary spa waters, each one containing different mineral elements. In fact, there are 36 individual springs that surface in the gardens and everyone has a different elemental makeup. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon strolling around or enjoying a picnic with friends or family.

Take a Trip to RHS Garden Harlow Carr


RHS Garden Harlow Carr is located just outside of Harrogate and is home to over 8,000 different species of plants. The garden also has an array of activities such as guided walks, talks and workshops which are perfect for those looking for something educational during their stay in Harrogate. A branch of the legendary Bettys Tea Rooms is also located here. Take time after strolling the garden to have a Fine cup of tea or Coffee with a Fat Rascal, a local delicacy of spices mixed fruit and almonds.

Harrogate has some fantastic restaurants offering delicious local cuisine from all over the world. Whether you’re looking for traditional British fare or something more exotic, there’s sure to be something that takes your fancy!

Try one of our local favourites William and Victoria on Cold Bath Road…great British food serving classics dishes using the very best quality local produce.

Another favourite is Starling a great Independent Bar and Kitchen on Oxford Street. They are famous for their amazing Pizza and craft beers all set in a very welcome and chilled atmosphere (Dog friendly).

local If it’s an afternoon Tea you’re in the mood for, try Mamma Doreen’s on James Street. This company also has special events such as Disney teas with singing characters if you’re looking to entertain younger kids. The West Park Hotel has an excellent restaurant with an outside bar that is a hidden gem in the middle of the town. Be sure to try some of the local specialities such as Yorkshire pudding or fish and chips while you’re here! We even have our own Gin company if it’s a tipple you fancy. Harrogate has plenty of cultural attractions to explore during your stay including art galleries, museums and theatres. The Royal Hall Theatre and Harrogate Opera House along with the Conference centre hosts regular performances throughout the year. The Mercer Art Gallery displays works from both local and international artists. There are also plenty of festivals throughout the year which provide great entertainment for visitors!
